What is the MSA?
The Medical Students Association (MSA) is a student-led organization within the Faculty of Medical Sciences. At its core, the MSA serves to represent the medical student body on campus, in a professional, yet, versatile light. We work to promote healthy lifestyles and to encourage the cultivation of well-adjusted work-life skills, amongst the students. We also strive to facilitate a better integration of our students, within the communities they come from. We realize this is essential to improving their service as future physicians.
The MSA aims to educate the public; not just on campus but also the Barbadian community and by extension the region. Our focus includes healthy lifestyle; how to prevent the spread of a Communicable disease and how to manage Non-communicable disease. We also play a role in advocating against the stigma and issues that chaperon some ailments. We accomplish these goals through this through workshops, health fairs, fitness programs, and partnering with organizations across the island to execute programs that aid in promoting health and wellness.
Our goals and directives are ensured, as we foster a relationship within the faculty, not only amongst the students; but also, between the faculty and student body, all working towards the success of each and every student. The MSA host galas, parties, games nights, discussion forums and lectures; all to aid in the building of a healthy student-faculty relationship. We also aim to meet the welfare needs of the students of the faculty in any possible way.
Fundamentally, we exist to give a holistic and enriching University experience while mitigating the rigor of the MBBS and Health Sciences program with the leisure of student life. Through the MSA, you will have opportunities for mentorship, outreach, and social involvement, all of which are geared towards developing successful multitalented physicians and health professionals. This MSA family is a family created just for you!
