About Us

What is the MSA?

The Medical Students Association (MSA) is a student-led organization within the Faculty of Medical Sciences. At its core, the MSA serves to represent the medical student body on campus, in a professional, yet, versatile light. We work to promote healthy lifestyles and to encourage the cultivation of well-adjusted work-life skills, amongst the students. We also strive to facilitate a better integration of our students, within  the communities they come from. We realize this is essential to improving their service as future physicians.

Our Story

The Medical Students’ Association (MSA) is dedicated to educating not just those on campus but also the Barbadian community and by extension the region on public health topics such as healthy living, communicable disease prevention, and the management of non-communicable diseases, while also challenging the stigma surrounding certain health conditions. We achieve these goals through workshops, health fairs, fitness programs, and collaborations with organizations island-wide. Within the faculty, we foster strong relationships between students and staff through social and academic events including galas, games nights, cricket and discussion forums, while actively supporting student welfare. At our core, the MSA strives to provide a holistic and enriching university experience that balances the rigors of the MBBS and Health Sciences programs with opportunities for mentorship, outreach, and social engagement, shaping well-rounded and successful future healthcare professionals.
